Manchester Championship Show 2024 Critique

Class 1023: Puppy Dog 3 entries, 1 absentee

1st: Miss Lorna Sandells’ PACKWAY BLUE MOON

Well sized male just shy of one year with excellent length of body and generous leg length. Very good, masculine head with a strong jaw, dark eye and good pigment. Good lay of shoulder and adequate depth of chest with a good spring of rib. Tends to overarch the loin when standing but does have a lovely fallaway over the croup when he relaxes. Straight mover; would love to have seen a little more enthusiasm on the move today.

2nd: Mr & Mrs G & A Greenhalgh’s KILBOURNE ABALIZE AT LEKSMOOR

A smaller, darker, 6-month-old male. Beautiful dark eye and head of good proportions. Well angulated forequarters. Would like to see a little more bend in stifle. Excellent bone and well-muscled for his age. Lovely harsh coat. A very positive and enthusiastic mover; unlucky to meet my first today.

Class 1024: Junior Dog 3 entries, 0 absentees

1st: Mrs S Taylor’s ORMANSTAR EZRA

Striking, dark 18-month-old male of excellent size and proportions. Excellent head and typical faraway expression. Well arched and strong neck leading in to well laid shoulders. Beautiful and shapely outline with wonderful top- and underlines. A little straight in his hind angulation. Excellent length of stride and correct mover. Needs a little more muscle and substance to him, but this will come with time. I look forward to seeing this male mature; he has lots of potential.

2nd: Mrs C Anderson & and Mrs A White’s HUMBIEHOUNDS VELVET TATTIE

16-month-old, typical male with an overall correct, but finer build compared to my first. Lovely high set and well rosed ears. Good length of neck and body but needs a little more overall depth and breadth to his chest. Good, harsh coat. Straight coming and going, and has a very easy-going movement with good reach.

3rd: Mr S McPherson & Mr P Paterson’s ANTONIUS VERTRAGUS THE-NGONG-HILLS (Imp Fra)

Class 1025: Post Graduate Dog 4 entries, 1 absentee

1st: Mr M & Mrs G Peach’s KILBOURNE DANIYAL

Beautiful, dark 18-month-old male with excellent overall substance and body. Excellent type. Very well constructed forequarters, good lay of shoulder and return of upper arm. Good forechest and ribs well carried back. Good length of leg and superb length of body. I would prefer a little more width of thigh. Moves correctly, however would like to see a little more lightness to his stride and for him to settle a bit more on the move. A very promising male - one to watch.

2nd: Mrs J Wragg’s NEROCHE KIELDER

Almost two-year-old male of good size and with a wonderful nature. Masculine head with beautifully high set and rosed ears. Good length of neck, set on well into his shoulders. Great depth of chest. Could have a little more carry back of rib. Very good length of first and second thigh. Covers the ground well at stand and when moving. Loved his day out.

3rd Dr R & Mrs J Pouner’s ZELDINI LINK

Class 1026: Limit Dog 5 entries, 2 absentees

1st: Mrs J & Mr J Wilce Quinton’s KIRJOJAX HARRIS

Four-year-old male with good height and length. High set, well rosed and small ears. Plenty of coat. Very good depth of chest with plenty of spring of rib. Good length of loin and well sloped hindquarters. Easy mover with a good length of stride, but would like a little more straightness coming and going.

2nd: Mrs L Tannant’s SORIMSWAY MR SLEEPY HOLLOW

Four-year-old male of good size but a little less substance than my first. Strong head with beautiful, small ears. Well carried back ribs with good spring of rib. Would like a little more enthusiasm on the move.

3rd: Mrs J Taylor’s COTHERSTONE DALMORE

Class 1027: Open Dog 3 entries, 1 absentee

1st: Mrs S Taylor’s CH. ORMANSTAR DARK SHADOW

Three-year-old, darker male with wonderful size and excellent construction. More broad in the head than I would prefer. Lovely, dark eyes however a little small for a dog of his size. Wonderful forechest, excellent lay of shoulder with a very good return of upper arm. Plenty of breadth and depth of chest. Good ribbing, splitting far back. Does fallaway a little early in the croup. Very good length and width of first and second thigh. Straight mover with a very free gait in profile which was wonderful to watch today. BOB, G3.

2nd: Mr M & Mrs G Peach’s QUANTISTICO GUISEPPE TO KILBOURNE NAF

Very shapely, almost two-year-old with excellent type. Dark eyes with good pigmentation and a lovely expression. Excellent ears. Overall very well angulated and an excellent forechest. A little shorter in body compared to my first but still very well proportioned and very good substance. Lovely arched loin. Excellent coat. Not as strong on the move compared to my first today and although he had a lovely stride, he tended to lack straightness. RDCC.

Very nice depth of chest and a good, strong loin but does fall away a little early. Good leg length but a little finer in bone here.
