Delighted to judge at Welsh Kennel Club, the appointment which has been delayed for two years due to covid. Many thanks to my Steward Les Mitchell and for all who entered under me and took their places with good grace. A mention must go to the young handler who helped out moving dogs for those who felt unable. We need enthusiastic youngsters who should be given encouragement. Many pleasing exhibits and young hounds which will take the breed forward to a high standard
VETERAN DOG (1 ent) 0 abs
Only veteran on parade today but he enjoyed his outing. Masculine all through with great depth of chest, good front angles with strong forelegs. Can be forgiven for wearing his overcoat today. Best Veteran
MINOR PUPPY DOG (3 entries) ( abs 0)
Star in the making, still a lot of growing to do but growing at an even pace. Good front and spring of rib. Eye catching head and expression with facial furnishings. Move Out well with good extension.
Nice young puppy with a good head an eye, find reach of neck until a of shoulder. Not the stride and movement of first but sure it will come when more settled
PUPPY DOG (3 ent) abs 0
Loved his breed type, excellent confirmation, grand depths of chest, spring of rip, strong loin, and pleasing fall away to correct tale set. Move adequately but needs to gain more confidence still a puppy with promise.
Another promising puppy which I liked a lot. Lovely balanced outline, good depth of chest, strong loin moved smoothly.
JUNIOR DOG (1 ent) Abs 0
Stood alone but excellent example of the breed to win this class and the reserve CC. Very sound boy on the move not surprisingly due to his well-toned body and good bone, rear quarters not over exaggerated low Hocks, correct feet, masculine but not course in head. Hope he has a good future.
POST GRTADUATE DOG (3 ent) Abs 0
2 year old dog, Nice type, pleasing head and neck, good for legs an width in front. Would like a little more arch in back line, however good fall away and tail set. Moved steadily
Longer cast first not quite the neck but excellent in rare. Good length from hip to hawk moved OK
LIMIT DOG (3 ent) abs 0
This boy had the right requirements for the breed. I felt he could do the job that Deerhounds were bred breed for but still gave the show hound ability. Moved well, tail held low, head held as if it was looking for pray. CC best dog.
Nice headpiece with good length of four face. Longer cast than first and weaker in his rear especially on the move.
OPEN DOG (3 ent) 0 abs
Strong boy with depth of chest, good bone and forelegs masculine head with strong jaw and fit for purpose. Move a spontaneously, had ring presence.
Admirable type and conformation. Not quite the strength as first. Nice head, eye and ears. Good neck into well laid shoulders moved with ease.
MINOR PUPPY BITCH (2 ent) abs 0
Very promising young lady, lovely to go over, very well constructed and stood well on the stack. Pleasing head with typical poppy expression. Correct ears and eyes. Neck flowed nicely into well laid shoulders.
Nice young puppy who needs time to develop, liked her overall appearance. Well tucked up and good length of back line and width of loin, fallaway too, good tail set length.
PUPPY BITCH (2ent) 1bs 1
This young bitch appealed to me greatly and would willingly have taken her home (but I don't think the owner would have let me). Good size and strength all through but still remain in feminine most appealing head and expression. Grand depth of chest loads of heart room good rear angulation.
Another promising puppy delightful expression. Good depth of chest giving plenty of heart room Super rear angulation, good fallaway and tail length . Grand rapport with handler.
JUNIOR BITCH (2 ent ) abs 1
On her own but pleased me enough to win this class. Dark grey, good textured coat, acceptable front and shoulder complementing rear. Well handled.
POST GRADUATE (7 ent ) abs 1
Well balanced bitch grand depth of chest, nice top line and rear quarters. Admirable head and expression, could reach of neck. Strong fore legs good feet, moved out well.
Same attributes as above. Good width of front, well laid shoulders moved well enough.
Very nice bitch but just needs time to body up.
LIMIT BITCH (6 ent) abs 2
My CC winner and best of breed today. Lovely type, feminine in head but underjaw had strength. Good body coverage, lots of heart room an well muscled. Covered the ground with ease and purposeful stop confident, happy soul which she showed on the move I hope she gains her crown soon.
Another quality bitch Full of breed characteristics, typical gentle expression with good eyes and ears moved freely RES CC

Classy mature bitch loved her angles front and rear. Excels in spring of ribs and depth of chest. Strong neck into well laid shoulders. Presented in excellent condition, moved with elegance and style
Admirable bitch with lovely sidegate, long fore face of substance but not cause in anyway. Great depth of chest slight rise over loin, well handled.
