Midland Counties 2007 Critique

(8,3) 1 Peach’s Kilbourne Firechief. 10 months. Big upstanding dog. Nice head and expression, good length of neck, deep body, straight front, excellent feet, wide hindquarters. Moved with drive. Needs to develop his topline. 2 Stuart & Holt’s Tomegen Montrachet. 11 months. Lovely type, longer overall than winner but not as much bone and not as mature. Excellent shoulders, deep body, good length from hip to hock, needs to tighten in movement. 3 Adams’ Rosslyn Obie.

(6,2) 1 Carr’s Marandike Star Attraction. Just out of puppy, very nice type. Masculine head, dark eyes, deep body, low set hocks, covers the ground standing and strides out well moving round the ring. 2 Buckley’s Packway Smart Money. 15 mths. Another very nice youngster. Different type to winner, much rangier and not as mature. Strong bone, nice head, good body length and length from hip to hock. Moved well. 3 Edwards’ Brackenland Ran.

(18,7) 1 Llewellyn’s Kilbourne Macallan at Matahari. Lovely old-fashioned type. Fine head with good length of muzzle, dark eyes, deep body, excellent shoulder placement, strong bone, wide hindquarters with good second thigh, moved soundly. Every inch a deerhound. CC. 2 Helps’ Greyfriars Gillie of Beardswood. 18mths well-grown youngster. Masculine head with nice dark eyes, excellent shoulder, straight front and well-knuckled feet, deep body and wide hindquarters. Moved well. Shown in very harsh condition. I preferred the type of the winner. 3 Merrick’s Clanardwood Sovereign.

LD (10,3) 1 Buckley's Lealla Jokol. One I have admired from the ringside for a long time and I wasn’t disappointed. Mature well-balanced hound, masculine head with dark eyes and lovely face furnishings, straight front, long neck going into excellent shoulder placement, very deep body, wide hindquarters with low-set hocks, moved and shown very well. Res CC. 2 Owen & Brodie’s Wolfscastle Wood Mellick. Not as mature as the winner. Finer head, dark eyes, good front and bone, strong body, good topline and low set hocks. Excellent movement. He is two years younger than the winner and needs more time to come to his best. 3 Cheshire’s Neroche Hennessy of Deeranwith.

OD (11,3) 1 Bond’s Regalflight Sligo. Pale grey dog, liked his type. Good length of head, best of ears, good bone, excellent shoulder placement, straight front, lovely deep body, wide hindquarters, good bend of stifle and low-set hocks. Moved soundly. 2A0Wigan’s Killoeter Grilse. Different type, finer head than winner, longer in body but not as deep. Good topline and hindquarters, moved very freely. Shown in hard condition. 3 Phillip’s and Peach’s Wild West von der Oelmuehle.

(6,0) 1 Help’s Beardswood Octavia. Well-grown 10 months. Good length of head, sweet expression, strong body, good outline, moved out well. BP. 2A0O’Brien & Quinn’s Kilbourne Fire Quest. Another well-grown 10mths. Finer head than winner also with a very sweet expression, deep body, good hindquarters with low set hocks, moved soundly. 3A0Mansell & Duddell’s Canerikie Coco Chanel.

JB (11,1) 1 Jansons’ Nixophel Crystal Amethyst. 16mths well made bitch. Sweet head, dark eyes, straight front, good feet, topline and hindquarters, moved soundly. 2 Owen & Brodie’s Marandike Ebony’s Choice to Wolfscastle. 13mths Not looking as mature as winner. Longer cast, finer head, deep body for age, good length from hip to hock, moved very well. 3A0Bye’s Jamalison Anthem.

(21,9) 1A0Miller’s Bryony Rose. Lovely old-fashioned type, not too heavy. Good head, dark eyes, small neatly folded ears, deep body, excellent hindquarters, moved well. Feet need to tighten. 2 Sharp’s Ashtonbrook Athene. What a shrinking violet! A beautiful bitch, very elegant and shapely, fine head, dark eyes, straight front, tight well-knuckled feed, good deep body, wide hindquarters and length from hip to hock with broad second thigh. Should do well when she gains more confidence. 3 Faircloth & HelpBeardswood Niamh.

LB (13,6) 1 Peach’s Pinglehol Ruby to Kilbourne. Big, powerful, bitch but not at all coarse. Nice head, strong neck, straight front with a good flat forearm with plenty of bone and tightly-knuckled feet. Deep body with good length of ribcage, nice hindquarters, moved with enthusiasm. Presented and shown in excellent condition. Just two years old and her immaturity showed in the challenge. 2 Guise’s Saintvalley Hope. Completely different type. Not as big as winner but much more elegant. Good overall shape, long, fine head, deep body of good length, good hindquarters, moved soundly. 3 Guise’s Saintvalley Dream Girl.

(10,6) 1 Guise’s Saintvalley Anticipation. A shapely, well-balanced bitch of good type, not over big and at 5yrs old now maturing nicely. Feminine head, dark eyes, straight front, beautiful compact feet, deep body, good hindquarters, moved correctly. CC & BOB. 2 Wragg’s Neroche Halistra. Different type, more compact. Straight front, good shoulders, very deep body, good hindquarters, lovely small ears nicely folded back. She has fined down as she has matured. Flatter in topline than winner. 3 Bailey’s Greyflax A Kind of Magic.
