Bournemouth 2007 Critique

I must congratulate the Bournemouth committee on the excellent re-location of the showground, this must have been a horrendous task. I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge Deerhounds and for their hospitality. There were very few hard muscled dogs, is this the result of coursing being banned or lack of free running? Many of the hounds' coats, nails and teeth need much more attention.
PD. (4). 1. Girling’s, Pyefleet Rollo. A very striking dark harsh coated puppy. Good feet, strong front, rear quarters and topline. Lovely head with expressive dark rimmed eyes. Moved with drive and purpose. Promising future. BP. 2. Carr’s, Marandike Star Attraction. Good front, feet, head and deep brisket. Held his topline when on the move, but didn’t move as freely as winner. 3. Bain’s, Rosslyn Oskar.
JD. (6) 1. Helps’s, Greyfriars Gillie of Beardswood. A well balanced dog that stood out as he entered the ring. Well boned. Good front and tight feet with well trimmed nails. Strong neck, hard muscled, deep brisket. Well set tail, harsh coat. Moved soundly and with drive. RCC. 2. Grimshaw’s, Jamalison Sonata. Well constructed dog. Good front and head, neat ears, dark eye and good bend of stifle. On the day he didn’t move well. 3. Buckley’s, Packway Smart Money.

A striking dog in excellent condition. Good front, head, ears, topline and stifle. Movement was sluggish. 3. Bond’s, Regalflight Sligo.
OD. (6). 1. Finnett and Harrington’s, Ch. Hyndsight Wind of Change. A sound well balanced dog in good condition. A masculine head, lovely expression. Well boned and powerful hindquarters. Movement was great. Won on greater maturity. CC and BOB. Pity he did not move as well in the Hound Group; he seemed to loose his sparkle. 2. Help’s, Beardswood Marmion. A well presented dog with a good front, feet, well trimmed nails and ears. Expressive eyes. Deep chest and good hindquarters. Moved well. A hard decision between first and second. 3. Meer’s, Kilbourne Comanche of Lordswell.
